Neem Oil Insect Repellent Posted on May 18, 2020 by Craig

Our Famous Gardener's Insect Repelling Gel contains Organic Neem Oil, but what is it and Why do we use it?

We have been making our Famous Gardener's Insect Repelling Gel for many years after lots of research showed that Neem Oil was a fantastic natural chemical free insect repellent, it's even Vegan Approved!

What is Neem Oil?

Neem Oil is a vegetable oil pressed from the seeds and fruit of an evergreen tree from India called the neem, nimtree or Indian lilac and it's Latin name is Azadirachta indica.

It's colour and consistency can vary slightly, but the organic neem oil we use in our Insect Repelling Gel is a thick brown liquid. In it's raw state it has a very distinct strong smell but once made into our Insect Repellent our customers love the smell of our it but the bugs certainly don't, win win!

Why do we use Neem?

We use Neem because many insects don't like the fragrance and won't come anywhere near you if they can smell it.  Lots of Gardener's spray neem oil on their plants to protect against insects such as whitefly, aphids, beetles, moth larvae, scale, and  mites.  However, Neem oil does not seem to bother mammals, birds, earthworms or some beneficial insects such as butterflies and bees.

Lots of our customers also use our Insect Repelling Gel on their Horses and Dogs with great results.

When Neem Oil is formulated into our Insect gel it helps to keep the bugs at bay and has been tested all over the world including the midges of Scotland!
